Day 1 – Heading out of LA

Today was a tough day. It started out at LAX terminal 4. As an apparent cost savings measure, American Airlinesvwent to an all kiosk check-in. Peggy was able to successfully check in, but the rest of us  were directed to a slow line at customer service.

Since AA was serving dinner, we decided to go with that plan. Dinner was a choice of pasta or chicken. Both were just ok.

We loved the in-seat entertainment and we all took advantage of that. While I was able to get about 4 hours of sleep, no one else got any meaningful rest.

Despite its age, Heathrow Airport is pretty cool. They have a large number of customer service agents scattered throughout the airport WIFI was free and it actually worked quite well.

Our connecting flight was on British Airlines. While they didn’t have the same in-seat monitors, the flight was only 2 hours long.

Peggy’s bag arrived on the carousel, but the rest of the baggage didn’t appear. After moving to another carousel (per Lost & Found), our baggage still didn’t show up. Another agent used our luggage receipts and said the bags were still in London.

Hopefully, they will arrive at our hotel tomorrow.
